Wandering the Shores of Fisherman’s Island State Park

Some places stay with you long after you leave them, and Fisherman’s Island State Park is one of those places for me. Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan near Charlevoix, this peaceful stretch of shoreline, forest trails, and endless blue water felt like a breath of fresh air.

Before heading to the park, we stopped in Petoskey for lunch at a little place called Happy Tacos – and yes, they definitely lived up to the name. After eating, we made our way toward Charlevoix and spent the day exploring the shoreline, taking photos, and searching Petoskey stones along the water.

Even without hiking all of the longer trails, the beauty of this place left a lasting impression on me. Between the sound of the waves, the quiet wooded paths, and the open shoreline, it felt like one of the most peaceful places I’d visited in a long time.

Fisherman’s Island State Park is the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and appreciate the simple beauty around you.

The beauty of this place was unforgettable, but spending the day with my daughter made it even more special.
